I’m a long time proponent of teaching music by using the music that your students love. In fact, my teaching plans for this summer center primarily around gathering students to play in groups that play music in specific genres – pop, gospel, contemporary Christian, etc. The following is a post that was reblogged by Laura Lamere and I am reblogging it here to highlight the benefit of creating opportunities for kids to play (music) together.
